Since ancient civilisations animals were a source of inspiration for artists. From the depiction of simple forms to the representation of mythical bodies, animals became very popular for painters and sculptors that did their best to meticulously recreate their muscles, fur or mouths. In a continent that is known for its amazing wildlife, African artists have embraced the aesthetic of these species that unfortunately are decreasing in population.
