Still Life

Still life is a painting genre focused on depicting inanimate objects that can be natural (food, flowers, rocks, shells, wine, dead animals, etc.) or man-made (bottles, vases, books, coins, pipes, crockery, clocks, gloves, etc.). Even though paintings of still life were created since ancient times, the genre itself became an art form in the 16th century. Still life paintings are extremely popular in Fine Arts training for the study of light and shadows.
