Painting: Can You Paint Better Than a Dog to Raise $14000 for Charity?

Painting: Can You Paint Better Than a Dog to Raise $14000 for Charity?

If you were asked to make a list of better painters than yourself, it's highly unlikely a dog will make that list, even if you've never held a brush or faced an easel before.

My advice to you will be to tuck in that arrogance because Arbor the Dog will definitely best you in a painting competition!

Adopted from an animal shelter by an American man Bryce Henderson and his ex-wife, the border collie mix dog has more than compensated her rescuers for their kindness and care.

The canine painting prodigy, who has cultivated a viral social media following, has earned thousands of dollars for charities and other animal rescue groups across the United States.

Recalling how Arbor's rise to painting fame came about, Henderson said he and his ex-wife had only been looking to adopt a new member to their family and hadn't anticipated that they will be getting more than the usual dog to play with, go on walks and for companionship, but he had returned home one day to see a new painting pasted on the wall. Curious on where the latest piece of wall art came from, he asked his wife and her reply was, "well Arbor painted that."

Saying he never expected to rescue a dog who could paint, he decided to support Arbor's painting career by posting her paintings and videos of her tricks on Facebook at Go Vegas Dog. Within minutes she gained nearly 100,000 followers and currently, she has more than half a million followers.

From here, there was only one way Arbor's painting success could go: up. So far, one of Arbor’s paintings sold for $2,100, and in total, she’s raised $14,000 auctioning off her paintings with donating the sales being donated to rescue groups around the country. Additional paintings by Arbor are slated to be sold in an auction this June.

"She really enjoys it when she sees me pulling out the easel and her paintbrushes,” Henderson disclosed as he added that the canine Da Vinci only paints once a month, creating a masterpiece whenever she's inspired. Fans who buy her artworks also testify to the uncanny artistry of the world's most unlikely painting maestro.

Henderson's message to everyone, especially to those possibly looking at adding a dog to their family is:

“Don’t prejudge a dog because it doesn't have a home, it doesn’t mean they won't be the next great addition to your family. They’ll end up being your best friend which is even better.”

And who knows, they might just put your family's name on the world map and rake in money for a worthy cause like Arbor.
