Born in 1957, Tunde Afolayan Famous is a contemporary African artist committed to embracing figurative expressionism. He studied art at the Yaba College of Technology, Lagos, Nigeria, and attended graduate school at the University of Missouri, Columbia, USA. He is also a recipient of numerous artist residencies across the United States and has taught art courses at Yaba College of Technology in Nigeria and National Louis University and Elizabeth City State University in the USA.
Tunde infuses spiritualism and symbolism in his lyrical expressions with colour as the basis of his paintings while illustrating his African aesthetics and sensibilities. His themes are centered on the adoption of expressive, abstract qualities and representational styles, by his figurative images.
