Olumide Oresegun, born on the 23rd September 1981, is a Nigerian hyper-realist artist who has been in practice for thirteen years. Oresegun graduated with a distinction in painting from Yaba College of Technology shortly after which, an art dealer struck a deal with him to produce the Lagosian market scenes in a hyper-realistic style. Oresegun soon became known nationally through his oil paintings, which showcased his drawing ability and control overvalues, edges, and contrasts in light and shade.


Oresegun is able to draw upon his years of individual practice to create masterful compositions to capture the movement and buzz of the figures seen in the market place and as well as single figure scenes. Oresegun remarkably encapsulates the atmosphere and mood of everyday people including children in the environment and his attention to the childhood story come as the desire to portray the truth and beauty of Africa’s spirit. Oresegun's paintings have a deep sense of history to them due to the research and method of obtaining real information.
