Ogunlade Babatunde Oluwagbeminiyi was born on September 23, 1972, in Lagos State. He hails from Ogun State. Ogunlade holds a National Diploma (ND) in General Art from Lagos State Polytechnic and a Higher National Diploma (HND) from Federal Polytechnic, Auchi, Edo State, where he majored in Painting. On completion of his HND program, Ogunlade went on to do his compulsory one-year National Youth Service Corps program in Kano State, Nigeria, after which he returned to full-time professional studio practice.


Ogunlade paints abstract figures with what he sees in his environment, using a self-developed technique honed for over fourteen years of his practice; which includes the use of geometric shapes depicted with colours and knives to create his desired effect on canvas. He is currently based in Lagos, running a full-time studio with professional artists.

Ogunlade has numerous commissioned works of art to his credit, which can be found in private and public collections around the world, in addition to these, his paintings have been used as book and magazine covers for covered book and magazine for the university journal of the department of African studies, Universidade Federal de Minas Greais, Belo Horizonte, Brazil, 2013.
