Multidisciplinary artist

Gerry Nnubia was born in 1966 in Enugu, Nigeria, where he was also raised, although his family is from Ihiala, Anambra State. He grew up drawing on walls at home with charcoal and on the sand with sticks due to the lack of art materials at his disposal after the Nigerian Civil War.

While in secondary school, Gerry designed banners, drew cartoons, and made illustrations to use as teaching aids. He obtained a Higher National Diploma from the Institute of Management and Technology in 1988. After his degree, he taught art at Auchi Polytechnic for some time before becoming a full-time studio artist.
