Negro Art Gallery was founded in September 2012. The gallery space is about 55 square meters and it houses a variety of artworks including paintings done in different media like oils, pastel, crayon, watercolor, acrylic, original prints, and metal foil; sculptures done in wood, bronze, ceramics, and fiberglass, and mixed media works from Nigerian artists. The artworks housed by Negro art gallery depicts Nigerian and African culture and traditions and are a great representation of Nigerian modern and contemporary art.


About the founder

Mrs. Funmi Ogbogu has a BSc in Microbiology from the University of Benin. She worked briefly in Academy Press Plc as a Graduate Trainee in 1994 before moving on to work as a management staff in Cadbury Nigeria PLC from 1995 – 2012.
She established the gallery after leaving Cadbury in 2012 to pursue her interests in the Arts after her father, Ernest Azubuike Emdin alias Negro Signs who was a renowned artist in Benin City, Edo State.
