Pita Ohiwerei was born on September 2nd 1963 in Nigeria where he attended Auchi Federal Polytechnic and graduated with a distinction in painting. Pita Ohiwerei’s early days in Auchi is evident in his artistic style. He worked with artists like Sam Ovraiti to define the Auchi fascination with colour. He also worked as a full time studio artists for many years in Lagos before moving to the Atlanta, Georgia, where he currently lives and works.

Pita has shown his work in solo and group exhibitions across Europe, Africa and USA and has won numerous awards. His paintings have also raised money for a variety of charitable organizations and are on display in private and corporate collections across Africa, Europe and USA.
