Joereal Emeh Okwun was born on the 3rd May 1962 in Teshie, Accra, Ghana. He hails from Ohafia in Abia State, Nigeria. He is a fine artist, media personality, model and curator. He has 29 years of experience as a studio artist.
Joereal was a student of the amalgamated college and School of Art and Design (1979-1983) in Teshie, Accra, Ghana. He had a brief stay in Yaba College of Technology before proceeding to the Institute of Textile Technology (1987-1989) in Lagos, Nigeria. He has studied art history, criticism and theory.
