EMMANUEL EKONG EKEFREY
Emmanuel Ekong Ekefrey was born in 1952 in Niiya Ibom State, Nigeria. Ekefrey is a self trained artist from the Ibibio people of south east Nigeria. His father was a famous carver. One of the most striking characteristics of Ekefrey 's paintings is the use of large-sized canvases left unstretched. His artistic style is reminiscent of Mexican wall-painting, he starts by drawing figures on the canvas and then paints them, using industrial pigments or oil paints. Ekefrey 's work has been exhibited in numerous European Art Centres as well as in the USA.
