Born in 1999, Ayo Sanusi is a Nigerian illustrator and visual artist from Lagos, Nigeria. She attended Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee and graduated with a Bachelor of Art in Studio Art and Economics.

Ayo loves drawing and creates illustrations rich in detail about African femininity and the general intricacies of life. Her central philosophy of art is as a means of conveying information, sharing experiences, and raising awareness on important gender and social issues, which has lead to her most notable work: illustrating a breakdown of Nigeria’s controversial social media bill to help citizens better understand the implications.

She has also illustrated two children’s books and featured in exhibitions across Nigeria and the US. She finds experimentation to be an essential part of the creative process and alternates between using art markers, oil paint, and digital media to produce her work. Her long term goal is to run an illustration agency focused on teaching and communicating complex topics through simplified visual storytelling.
